21 Dec WhatsApp announces new in-stream purchase features.
Back in 2014 when Facebook purchased WhatsApp for $19billion they figured they would use traditional monetization (which would see ads inserted) but, that didn’t work. So with some 2 billion active users, Facebook is taking a different approach. WhatsApp recently launched their in-app shopping options. This comes with a price, as there are fees associated with some features. The biggest focus will be of course, India. As Facebook has more users there than the U.S. And with their acquisition of eComm platforms like Meesho, it gives more in-stream purchase options.
