In the four or so months since Twitter launched a prompt that asked to read before retweeting, they have shared how useful this new prompt has been on cutting back on endless re-Tweets without substantiation. Turns out, people CAN read! Users open articles 40% more often after seeing the prompt -and actually OPENING articles before hitting re-Tweet increased by 33%.
