Thats a lot of time spent.

There are several studies conducted on a regular basis designed to help marketers target people using various media types. The details of the studies can almost be ignored when you look at the big picture.   Regardless of media type, people spend a lot of time using traditional and digital media.  This infographic sums it up with a pretty picture as well as calculating a daily average around the world.   The key here from our perspective is that as marketers, we can’t push one platform over another just because it is what we know.

Although there are certainly areas in which we have more expertise than others, we cannot discount media platform because they are not known to us personally.  Thats not fair to our business or our clients brands.

The fact that media usage and device usage continues to grow and be interacted with needs that as media professional selling our services, we need to always be willing to learn and grow and be ok with not knowing everything about every platform.  I regularly rely on people much smarter than myself to educate me on new technologies or platforms.

With all of the hours spent online, its extremely important for me as a strategic partner to understand and be able to decipher usage behavior and audiences, then be able to adapt those platforms into organic experiences.
