How many apps do you have on your phone? Go ahead, check. If you’re anything like the normal smart phone user, you have upwards of 20.
But when’s the last time you downloaded an app? Comscore’s Mobile App Report and Time Magazine report that 65% of smartphone users don’t download a single app in any given month.
It makes sense. Most people download the apps they need and stick to them. There’s no reason to download something new unless there’s an expressed need for it. In fact, 42% of all app time spent on smartphones occurs on the individual’s single most used app (Comscore Mobile App Report).
That’s staggering. People spend nearly half their app time on the same app. When you think about it, it makes sense for social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. At some point, everyone has lost track of time “stalking” their social media friend’s profiles. It happens.
So if your, get-rich-quick idea was to build an app, it might be time to reconsider.
