YouTube Is Now Social

YouTube gets its own social network with the anticipated launch of the YouTube community! The YouTube community effectively allows video creators to engage with their viewers with virtual communicators (texts, GIFS, images, etc.). The kick-off goal is to have a better engagement with the audience, way beyond the videos, and bring a new social platform to the widely successful video-sharing website.

Access to this fresh feature is made available on all YouTube channels to creators and their viewers with a simple click. The “Community” tab essentially unites creators and their viewers in a more interactive environment. For instance, creators can share text posts, images, GIFS, and other relevant content and the viewer can react with a thumbs up/down or written comment (similar engagement tactics that Facebook currently uses). Viewers can see the creators post in the “Subscriptions” tab and can filter posts with push notifications. This level of interaction breaks down the invisible wall between the creator and the audience.

Effectively, this Community page is a mini-social network platform launch. The Community tab is a great strategic move for YouTube (versus a destination social network like Google+) because it effectively allows the creators and their viewers to communicate and drive a social engagement every company desires. YouTube Community takes the broadness of video sharing and compartmentalizes it specific to the viewer. It is nothing less than a great marketing strategy to simply find out what attracts certain viewers to certain things. Specifically in social media marketing it is all about the number of people engaging, therefore as a marketer (or a creator in this situation) you want to share what your viewer essentially wants to see.

YouTube Community is a huge inspiration for entrepreneurs who aspire to create a channel of compelling content and build a desirable and invested audience. If you are one of these ambitious creators, contact milk* for creative and social media expertise.
